Warranty and papers
The warranty ladder
Three separate pieces of paper. We keep them apart, and tell you whose each one is.
The maker's material warranty
The shingle or panel maker covers the product against manufacturing defects. Its terms and exclusions are in the maker's own document, and they don't cover storm damage to the roof.
The enhanced system warranty
Some makers offer a system warranty when the roof is installed by a contractor they have credentialed. We say which one applies, and who registers it, on your contract.
Our workmanship warranty
We stand behind the installation. The length and the terms are on your contract, along with what isn't covered.
Plain words
What "lifetime" means
Read the maker's document with us before you sign.
Whose life
Usually the length of time you own the house, and only for the maker's defects.
What it covers
Manufacturing defects in the material. It isn't a promise that the roof never leaks.
What it doesn't
Wind, hail, ice, poor ventilation and installation errors fall under other terms.

Questions
About the paperwork
Who registers the warranty?
It's on your contract: either we do it for you, or the maker does it with your information. Either way you get the papers.
Does a ventilation problem void a warranty?
It can. Some makers' terms ask for balanced intake and exhaust. We vent every roof we install to match.
Can I read the terms before I sign?
Yes. Ask for the maker's document and our workmanship terms with the estimate.
Questions about the papers?
We'll send the terms with the estimate, so you can read them first.
